Wild Talks is a lecture series hosted by Santa Barbara Wildlife Care Network that explores our wild world through the eyes of experts in different wildlife fields.
On May 9th, join us for an electrifying evening as Ian Shive, the Ansel Adams award-winning photographer and filmmaker, unveils his riveting journey through America's hidden treasures—the National Wildlife Refuge System. With Lynn Scarlett, previous Deputy Secretary of the Interior, and Geoffrey L. Haskett president of the National Wildlife Refuge Association by his side, Shive will immerse us in two decades of awe-inspiring tales from the vibrant coral reefs of Palmyra Atoll to the rugged expanses of the Aleutian Islands. Prepare to be spellbound by Shive's captivating narratives, woven with wildlife encounters, WWII history, and breathtaking visuals that transport us to places few have ever ventured. Don't miss this extraordinary opportunity to explore the uncharted realms of conservation.

The Spectrum of Wildlife Care in California: A Survey of Biodiversity, Stewardship and Ecology
Wild Talks is a lecture series hosted by Santa Barbara Wildlife Care Network that explores our wild world through the eyes of experts in different wildlife fields.
On May 19th, 2024 from 2 pm to 4 pm, best-selling author of the California Field Atlas, Obi Kaufmann comes to The Santa Barbara Wildlife Care Network to present his work. In his artful yet analytical books, Obi Kaufmann explores the transformation of the resource landscape from its ancient origins through its modern challenges to its future possibilities. In this special presentation, Obi will zoom in on the biodiversity crisis across the ecological island that is the California Floristic Province and where hope might be found in brilliant conservation efforts across the State. Heightened with lyrical prose and backed by up-to-the-minute, well-sourced science, Obi demonstrates how we learn from the deep past to uncover truths about the future. Obi tells the story of how the road through geographic literacy and ecological philosophy leads to a new era of democratic sustainability, one that we can and will usher in together.

The 50th annual Solstice Parade 2024
Summer Solstice Parade began in 1974, as a birthday celebration for a popular artist and mime named Michael Gonzales. In subsequent years, their parade joined forces with a Summer Solstice Music Festival coordinated by Michael Felcher, sponsored by The Santa Barbara Museum of Art, staged at the Sunken Gardens, to celebrate the longest day of the year.
The 2024 parade and festival is the 50th annual Solstice celebration!
We will be part of the parade this year and we can’t wait to see you out there!
Lucidity Festival 2024
Lucidity is an open-source transformational arts and music festival. We will be exhibiting as a partner organization at the festival and our team of expert animal rehabilitators will be presenting an educational lecture this year!

Santa Barbara Earth Day
The Santa Barbara Earth Day Festival is one of the longest-running earth day celebrations in the country - and is believed to be one of the largest earth day festivals on the West Coast. Santa Barbara’s environmental reputation attracts national media, celebrity attention, and local crowds.

Santa Barbara Summer Solstice Celebration

I Madonnari Italian Street Painting Festival
The Santa Barbara I Madonnari Italian Street Painting Festival presents the rare opportunity to view artists of all ages create street paintings ranging from classical to original images. The annual, three-day festival is held on the Memorial Day Weekend at the Old Mission Santa Barbara.

Baby Season Fund Drive
From March–August every year, SBWCN receives an influx of babies, nestlings, infants, and juveniles who can not survive on their own. By joining the Baby Season Fund Drive, you are directly supporting the care of these orphaned and injured baby animals.
